The foundation is producing the National Sports Tributes, a nationally televised, multi-event project honoring legendary American athletes and sports journalists for lifetime achievement in their respective fields. The foundation's board of directors will coordinate with the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in the annual selection of Tributes honorees.

A week-long series of special events will lead up to the Tributes presentation, celebrating the life and times of each year's honorees. Each class of annual celebrants will be permanently enshrined in the National Sports Museum's Court of the Legends exhibition.
